Ginger Moush has been making music in all kinds of capacities since around 2004. He purchased his first acoustic guitar for £5, learnt three chords and brought joy to campfires and family events with renditions of Half Man Half Biscuit tunes before eventually straying out into the realm of experimental, home made music.

Ginger Moush has been in a number of small local bands, often with friends; Mississippi Steam Wreck, The Beta Pavilion, The Good Mournings, Hundred Cannons and Outgroan… he also appeared as Professor Jowell, the part time lab coat wearing dancer in Sicknote. Ginger Moush was the drummer on the last tour of Mr. Duke, of Mr Duke & The Hoodlum Circus.

For the best part of a decade Ginger Moush has primarily been a solo act, but has continued to jam and collaborate with fellow musicians and The Holistic House Band here at The Shonk. He also plays drums at a local, member’s only secret ‘free jazz’ club.

Ginger Moush has a broad taste in music but maintains that the best bands ever include: Cardiacs, Ween, Half Man Half Biscuit, King Missile, Happy Flowers, LCD Soundsystem, The Monks and Grandaddy to name a few.

Moushes’ debut album LOCKED DOWN can be obtained from the Shonkphonics bandcamp!

Latest release:

The first official album by Ginger Moush ‘Locked Down’ is due to be released July 1st 2020. It’s a collection of tracks and narration inspired by and recorded during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. All tracks have been written and recorded by Ginger Moush at his home in Newport, with exception to track 3 ‘Home Made Travel Writing’ which features the instrumentation and vocal mastering of IllWill, a friend and fellow Newport resident, and track 15 ‘Narrative Views’ which feature instrumentation from DJ Orchard (whom he discovered on Youtube)

The album encapsulates the various stages of the lockdown for Ginger Moush and some of the inconveniences it brought, whilst in reality Ginger Moush thrived during the lockdown, this album is a testament to that fact as up until now Ginger Moush has released sporadic singles, demos and experiments and has only gigged a handful of times in the last year or so.

The album is available to purchase digitally through Bandcamp and is also available in a limited run of 25 CDs, all with hand made covers, a full colour booklet and download code packed full of extras, including music videos. All filming and photography took place in or around his home, with Mrs. Moush taking photos and filming parts of the videos. Mrs. Moush also features on the track Depravitea by operating the keys on the organ.
